Movement Generates Happiness

More movement generally contributes to greater happiness. If people exercised for at least 30 minutes on most days, which is the standard American and European recommendation for good health, Dr. Chen says, they were about 30 percent more likely to consider themselves happy than people who did not meet the guidelines.

“I think the indications are strong that exercise can contribute to happiness and, while anything helps, a bit more is probably better,” she says.   - NY Times

Fighting Weakness

Shaolin 2 PersonThere is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it's impossible to turn back.

Be Stronger than your excuses

It's easy to make excuses to skip a class.

But remember what happens when you overcome those excuses: You get closer to a happier, healthier, fitter you. A year from now, do you want to be in the same place, or do you want to be able to look back on how far you've come?

Every time you overcome an excuse, you're one step closer to your goal!

Summer Tips

You should drink half an ounce of water for every pound you weigh.

If you are normally active, it can actually be harmful to your body to take a hiatus from your workouts over the summer.

life is all about balance and eating right a majority of the time. The key is knowing when to allow yourself a treat and when to find the healthy alternative to common summer foods.

Don't forget about your goals because when fall comes around you don't want to be regretting three months of slacking.

Stay on track with your health!

Loss of muscle mass, strength and flexibility

Loss of muscle mass, strength and flexibility occurs naturally in the body after the age of 35. The fact is that when you lose muscle you gain weight, even if you are eating well. Health experts recommend that you engage in some form of training that focuses on all major muscle groups a minimum of 2 times per week and up to 5 times per week depending upon your fitness goals. Kung fu, with its full body training, provides a perfect solution to prevent muscle loss and regain your strength and flexibility. Don't give into age and the losses of muscle and fitness that are associated with it. You may not be able to turn the clock back to 20 but you can take where you are right now and improve upon it and become stronger, more fit and start feeling better than you did in years.

Our style of Kung Fu does not have any performance gymnastics in it. It is an authentic style originally designed for adults of all ages to help build greater strength, better health and competent skills which you can actually use for self defense.

Hot Tea in The Summer

Hot tea in the summer --- it cools you down

This may sound like the biggest paradox: ice actually triggers your body to heat up.

When we drink cold water in the summer, our bodies have to compensate for the difference in temperature by heating up more, which leads to even more overheating.

Drinking warm tea allows the body to relax, calm down, and cool itself down to a normal homeostatic temperature (equilibrium) without needing to compensate for the difference in temperature.

Being Consistent

A consistent student who comes to class regularly and puts in the right amount of effort into training and, as a result, triggers: Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Endorphins, otherwise known as the body's natural "Happy Chemicals," may truly be sourcing Health and Happiness into their life style as a result of their training!

Your Biggest Challenge

"Your biggest challenge isn't someone else.

It's the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs,

and the voice inside you that yells "CAN'T," but you don't listen.

YOU JUST PUSH HARDER.

And then you hear the voice whisper "CAN."

And you discover that the person you thought you were

is no match for the one you really are."
